(i) Find a place with a non-reflective, plain, light-colored background with no shadows on it. Set up your Mac on a sturdy surface so your camera cannot move while you you are using the effects. Photo Booth > Help for "If an image with a video backdrop doesn’t look right" (without the quotation marks) and be sure you do everything it says to get the best results possible. Specifically: moving out of the frame when asked to, well-lit room, but I still get the holes in the backdrops. Every time I use the Photo booth and tried to use the backdrop effects, it does not work. I've been having problems using the backdrops effects on my Macbook Pro.
